I arrived in Egypt with some hesitation. I didn’t know what to expect, and I was a bit worried about safety. But those first 10 days in Hurghada completely changed my perspective.
People were incredibly welcoming, curious, warm, and always ready to talk. Sure, most of the time they wanted to sell me something or invite me for coffee, but behind that, I found real kindness. Everyone wanted to connect. I even got invited to someone’s home to meet their family and share a meal, which turned into one of my favorite memories.
I took a one-day trip into the desert, visited the local market, and wandered through streets full of color and life. While I was taking photos, someone gave me an apple for free in the market...just because they liked that I was capturing the moment.
What surprised me most was how open people were to being photographed. Usually, I’m careful not to take pictures of people without permission, but in Hurghada, it felt different. People not only accepted it, they actually enjoyed it. That made it even more special for me.
