Pietrele, Bucura Lake, Retezat, Bucura, Peleaga and Papusa Peaks
We set off into the heart of the Retezat Mountains, our backpacks full and our spirits light. After hours of hiking through rugged paths, we reached the stunning Bucura Lake, a high-altitude jewel nestled among the peaks. We pitched our tent by the water, the quietness broken only by the wind and the occasional marmot call.
At dawn, I crawled out of the tent into the cold morning air, camera in hand. The sky was slowly turning pink and gold, and the mirror-like surface of the lake reflected the surrounding mountains in perfect stillness. It was peaceful, almost surreal.. just me, the silence, and the light gently spilling over the ridges.
There’s something grounding about being in a place so raw and vast. The Retezat Mountains, with their wild beauty, made me feel small in the best way. That sunrise by Bucura Lake is etched in my memory.. one of those simple, powerful moments that makes you fall in love with the mountains all over again.
